NGLA Admissions Application
The
Next Generation Leadership Academy (NGLA) is a non-traditional
educational leadership program that provides high quality
professional development with the singular focus of improving
student achievement. The program takes the best practice
in leadership theory and complements it with best practice
in educational leadership to meet the needs of local school
divisions. Candidates selected to participate in the NGLA
are expected to demonstrate the following professional dispositions:
- Belief that every child can learn;
- Commitment to reflect on experiences
to grow and develop;
- Possession of written and verbal skills
to communicate with clarity, conciseness, and appropriateness
to multiple audiences;
- Strong interpersonal skills, such
as valuing perspective and treating people with respect;
- Ability to identify quality teaching
and enable students to attain results despite significant
challenges;
- Ability to work proactively to solve
problems and reach effective solutions.
The Center for Leadership in Education
will distribute the NGLA application online and through
the office of the superintendent of schools or his/her designee.
School divisions will have oversight of the selection of
participants for the NGLA. The NGLA application must be
completed by each participant and submitted to the Center
at the conclusion of the division’s selection process.
In addition, the Center strongly recommends that the school
division interview each candidate. Interviews should be
